About Me

Hello! I’m Jennifer, and I’m passionate about telling stories that make historical ideas come alive. I’ve worked as a museum educator, walking tour guide, and fact checker, and as a consultant for documentary film, t.v., and scholarly projects of all kinds.

I have experience as a writer of both popular and academic prose. As a developmental and line editor, I specialize in nonfiction of all kinds. My clients include students, professors, playwrights, documentary filmmakers, and CEOs.  I’ve worked on a wide range of academic and creative projects, helping to develop novels, memoirs, screenplays, academic books, young adult literature, and museum exhibits.

I am the former Director of Education of the YIVO Institute, and I’ve also worked at the New-York Historical Society and the Tenement Museum. I hold an M.A in Anthropology, and an M.Ed in Curriculum and Pedagogy, specializing in how to teach history in museums. I completed doctoral work (coursework and comprehensive exams) in modern American and Jewish history at New York University. I’ve worked in curriculum development for museums and K-12 classrooms. I wrote and produced the YIVO Institute’s college-level online course, “Discovering Ashkenaz.”

My writing has appeared in the Jerusalem Post, Time.com, Hazlitt, Atlas Obscura, Lady Science, and Publishers Weekly. My academic work has been published by several university presses and has appeared in major scholarly journals.

I am accepting clients for editorial services, including developmental and line editing of fiction and nonfiction.

I’m currently writing a book about radical housewives.
